Mark is a general practitioner dealing with audit and accounts, tax and all aspects affecting limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. Mark continued the family connection with Simpson Wood joining the firm where his father had been a partner upon leaving University and became a partner himself in 1998.  His interests are mainly centred around spending time with his family, sport and his local church where he is the treasurer. Mark is a keen golfer and ex-cricketer who now visits the gym where he watches Sky Sports whilst sitting on various items of fitness apparatus.

Mike is a partner in the firm's Tax and Estate Planning Services department. He leads a specialist team dealing with these matters on behalf of the firm's clients and acts as an independent professional trustee in many of the trusts that the firm administers and as an executor of the wills of those clients who wish him to do so. He joined the firm as a partner in 2000 after having spent almost 30 years in the legal profession specialising in the preparation of wills and administration of estates and trusts and inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning through the use of lifetime settlements and will trusts. Away from the office Mike is a lover of sport and cricket in particular and has been known to enjoy the odd glass of beer at his local cricket club where he has been an active committee member for over 15 years. Mike also likes to spend as much leisure time as he can in the company of his 6 young grandchildren (at the last count) who keep him on his toes.

Danny is one of the firm's audit and accounts partners, dealing with a wide range of business clients, covering a whole variety of services that they require. He is also the firm's specialist on the audit and accounts of academy schools. He joined the firm as an accounts trainee in 1997 after graduating from York University. After qualifying in 2000 and three more years as an audit senior, he was made a partner in 2003. Outside of work Danny has previously studied music and four different languages, but freely admits to forgetting most of them; don't ask him to say anything beyond "Hello" or "Two beers please" these days! He enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, going to the gym as a result, and the occasional glass (or bottle) of red wine!

Paul is the firm's tax partner dealing with all aspects of personal tax, corporate tax and tax planning. He specialises in corporate tax and remuneration planning. Paul joined Simpson Wood in September 2010 after almost 20 years at a national accountancy practice in Leeds. Paul is a qualified chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor. In his spare time Paul enjoys playing cricket and golf, watching Huddersfield Town and spending time with his wife and children.

Craig is an audit and accounts partner within the firm having been made a partner in 2010. Craig deals with the audit and accounts preparation of limited companies but also has experience of sole traders and partnerships. Prior to being made a partner, Craig joined the firm straight from completing his A-Levels in 2000 and went on to successfully achieve both the AAT and ACA qualifications. Away from the office, Craig is a keen sportsman partaking in golf and cricket, where he is heavily involved as treasurer of his club, whilst also enjoying spending time with his family.

Neil has been managing director of Simpson Wood (Financial Services) Limited since it was established in 2003. Supported by Sian Williams and Richard McCarthy, Neil provides independent financial advice to clients, as well as keeping the partners and the firm's professional connections informed. Having spent his whole career in financial services, he has developed many long lasting client relationships, helping provide continuity and consistency of advice. With two expensive daughters to support, Neil doesn't tend to take long holidays, but enjoys experiencing Spanish culture and cuisine when the opportunity arises!

Anne plays an important role within the firm's support staff. She has a varied role which involves opening and distributing morning mail, filing within various departments, making regular deliveries of in-house post throughout the day and ensuring that the post is signed, franked and taken to the Post Office every evening. She will also deal with other support matters as they arise, such as delivering post to clients whose premises are local, giving that personal touch to the work Simpson Wood provide. Anne joined Simpson Wood in 1998 after working in the accounts offices of an engineering company and later a textile company. Out of work, she enjoys keeping fit, taking the family dog Gerry for walks, brass band concerts and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandson.

David is the firm's cashier, responsible for the upkeep of the firm financial records and ordering of stationery. He also oversees the accounts records of Simpson Wood (Financial Services) Ltd. He joined Simpson Wood in July 1979 straight from school as an office junior and then moving to work in the audit/accounts department as well as the company records department. He moved to the admin department in 1983 and has remained there since then. When not at work he spends his time with family and friends, attending his local church where he is heavily involved, going on holiday, eating out, and enjoying a variety of sports and cooking. He has recently got married.

Felix's day to day role as a member of the firm's Business Services Group department includes the preparation of accounts and tax computations for companies and partnerships of various sizes. Felix joined Simpson Wood in 2009 after completing his A levels at Greenhead College and has since achieved his AAT qualification. He is currently engaged in his studies towards the Chartered Accountant qualification. In his spare time Felix enjoys playing in a 6 a side football league, watching films, going out with friends and his fiancé and the occasional round of golf.

George is an accountancy and audit trainee in the Business Services Group department and joined the firm in July 2011 after completing his A-Levels at Shelley College. Since then George has successfully completed his AAT qualification. His job entails working on draft accounts and assisting senior staff. In his spare time George enjoys playing cricket for Kirkburton Cricket Club and football for Cumberworth. When he isn't playing he puts time back into the cricket club by coaching the under 13's team. Outside of sport he enjoys a drink with friends and watching a bit of telly.

John's role is within our company records department which covers, amongst other matters, the updating of client data i.e. producing company meeting minutes, the appointment and resignation of company officials along with handling changes to shareholders and shareholdings. In addition he deals with the preparation and submission of clients' annual returns to Companies House. John began working for the firm in 2006 having previously worked for NatWest Bank for some 42 years. John's interests outside of work centre mainly around his family, gardening and sport. He enjoys walking, playing golf and watching both football and cricket.

Joy deals with the administration of trusts and the preparation of trust Accounts in the firm's Tax and Estate Planning Services department. Joy joined the firm many years ago after completing an accountancy course at Huddersfield Polytechnic. Her career commenced in the audit department but a training session in the trust department turned into a permanent position. Outside work Joy acts as chauffer to her two teenage daughters. She enjoys playing the piano, swimming, walking, flower arranging and gardening. She is a flautist in a church music group and is a member of Elland Inner Wheel Club, Elland Tangent Club and the Halifax NSPCC Supper Club.

Judith is a secretary who joined Simpson Wood in December 2003. She currently works for Giles Cliffe, Danny McAllister, Craig Stratford and Neil Duthie of Simpson Wood (Financial Services) Limited.  She is also responsible for the administration of the firm's safe custody records, i.e. the safe-keeping of Wills and documents we hold on behalf of clients, and covers reception at times. Judith previously worked for a local textile company and prior to that a small accountancy practice for several years. She enjoys cruising holidays, loves animals, especially cats, murder mystery evenings and also volunteers for a local charity.

Julie is an accounts senior in the firm's Business Services Group department dealing with a range of sole trader and partnership clients. Her work involves bookkeeping, VAT returns and accounts preparation. Originally from St Helens, Julie first came to Huddersfield in 1989 where she attended Huddersfield University and completed a degree in Accountancy Studies. Julie joined the firm in 1997 as an accounts clerk for 2 years and after leaving for a brief spell she rejoined the firm in 2002. Julie is married to Martin and out of the office she enjoys a wide range of interests from walking to musical theatre. At the weekends she enjoys catching up with family and friends and she is a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing!

Karen is the receptionist here at Simpson Wood and is the first point of contact for both telephone calls and clients calling in to the office, in and amongst she also carries out the typing for the payroll and TEPS departments. Karen joined Simpson Wood in 2010 and comes from a secretarial/administrative background with experience of working in both the public and private sectors. Away from the office Karen enjoys spending time with her family especially with her three grandchildren, eating out with friends and going on holiday.

Keith is one of the senior members of the Tax and Estate Planning Services department. He specialises in all aspects of personal tax, including completion of personal tax returns and advising clients with any queries they have. He joined the firm in 1976 having previously worked with the Inland Revenue (as it still was back then) for 6 years. Keith is a keen swimmer and gym member and follows most sports. In 2011 he took part in the Jane Tomlinson 10K in support of cancer charities. Outside of the office he enjoys foreign holidays and socialising with his family and friends.

Linda is the secretary to Mark Fielding, Mike Nicholas and Paul Carson. Linda's work is a mixture of typing and preparing accounts for both Tax and Estate Planning Services and Business Services Group departments, as well as covering reception at times. She joined Simpson Wood in September 2001 prior to which she had been a full time mum of two boys for 7 years. In her spare time Linda likes walking, swimming and spending time with her family.

Lisa processes approx 120 payrolls for existing clients either on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis based on the individual clients needs. All aspects of payroll administration are covered by Lisa liaising with clients, their employees and H M Revenue and Customs. Lisa works very closely with our own tax department to ensure that all eventualities are covered and that legislation is met at all times. Lisa joined Simpson Wood in June 2005 as payroll manager with nearly 10 years of payroll experience. In her spare time Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, socialising and walking her dogs. As well as keeping dogs Lisa also has 3 ferrets which keep her on her toes, and at the last count, she still has all her fingers left!

Lisa works in the Business Services Group department of the firm dealing with the accounts preparation of a variety of clients as well as providing payroll services and completing VAT returns. Lisa joined the firm in 2008 from another local accountancy practice where she completed her AAT qualification and started studying for the ACCA. Lisa relaxes in her spare time by watching films, eating out and spending time with her family and friends.

Luke joined the team in October 2011 having graduated from Huddersfield University with a degree in Accounting & Finance. Luke's role is to assist the Tax and Estate Planning Services department where he is involved in the preparation of personal tax returns and trust accounts with a view to gaining valuable practical experience. He successfully gained his ATT qualification in 2012 and is also continuing his professional development by training for the CTA qualification. Outside office hours Luke enjoys keeping active with regular visits to the gym, 5-aside football and trying to maintain a respectable handicap at golf.

Marianne is the practice administrator at Simpson Wood. Once the incoming mail has been dealt with, no two days are the same - ranging from overseeing the secretarial team, arranging advertisements and marketing, HR, organising outside events, and general running and maintenance of Bank Chambers. Marianne joined Simpson Wood in September 2001, after working 20 years for what was originally Leeds Permanent Building Society. When not at work she spends time with her family and friends, supports her son's local football team, plays racquetball, enjoys cooking, and has recently discovered the joys of stress busting hikes around Yorkshire and Derbyshire. 

Martin is one of the firm's audit and accounts seniors working in the Business Services Group department. He is engaged in all aspects of auditing and accounts preparation across a wide variety of clients, but taking a particular interest in charity clients. He joined Simpson Wood in 1974 after graduating from Sheffield University and working briefly for Norweb in Manchester. Away from work Martin enjoys watching rugby league, playing tennis, going to the gym and travelling to exotic places.

Matthew works in the Business Services Group department of the firm providing a variety of services including accountancy and audit to a number of clients. He joined the firm straight from college in June 2008 and became AAT qualified in 2010. Since then he has successfully completed his Chartered Accountancy training, becoming an ACA in 2013. When not at work Matthew enjoys going on holiday as often as possible, attending music festivals and spending time with his friends and family with the occasional drink or two.

Mike works part time in our company records department, maintaining statutory requirements for our corporate clients and liaising with Companies House on their behalf. Additionally he deals with, amongst other things, property maintenance, credit control and health and safety matters. Mike joined Simpson Wood in October 1999 after taking early retirement from Lloyds TSB where he had worked for 34 years, latterly as a senior commercial service manager based in Huddersfield. Family takes up most of Mike's spare time as he has recently become a grandfather but, commitments permitting, he enjoys his gardening, travel and really doesn't mind a spot of decorating!

Nichola is the firm's trust manager and her job involves dealing with the day to day administration of a wide ranging portfolio of trusts and estates as well as preparation of annual accounts and trust tax returns. Nichola started work at Simpson Wood on April Fool's day 1987 as an office junior before moving to the Trust Department later that same year. She became manager of the Trust Department in 2001. Outside of work, Nichola is a keen runner being a member of Denby Dale Travellers running club and also training with Stockport Harriers. She competes regularly, with varying degrees of success, racing from 5k up to marathon distance and is a fundraiser for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Nichola also enjoys eating lots of chocolate and watching trashy television, especially Come Dine With Me.

Peter is an audit senior in the Business Services department, dealing with a broad range of clients. He is involved with accounts preparation, management accounts and audits. He graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in Exploration Sciences before training with Simpson Wood, qualifying in 1977. Peter left in 1988 to pursue pastures new, only to return in 2009. He is married with two grown up children. Away from work he enjoys most sports - as a spectator mainly these days. Peter enjoys spending time outdoors - walking, bird watching, photography and gardening. After walking he likes nothing better than a pint of real ale in a traditional village pub.

Rachel is an accounts clerk in the firm's Business Services Group department preparing accounts and VAT returns for sole traders and partnerships, including doing the bookkeeping work for some clients. She has been working at Simpson Wood since 1992. Rachel is married to Gary and has two daughters, Shannon and Charlie, who take up most of her spare time. When not at work she enjoys socialising with friends and family, keeping fit by going swimming, and weekends away with the family.

Samantha works in our Tax and Estate Planning Services department dealing with a mixed portfolio of companies and personal tax clients. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor. She joined the firm in July 2008, having previously worked for other medium sized firms of Chartered Accountants. She achieved her tax qualification during her time working for Smith & Williamson in Salisbury where she worked in their private client team and specialised in corporation tax, trusts and Lloyds underwriters. In her spare time she enjoys reading, going to the cinema, socialising with friends and decorating her home.  

Sian is a paraplanner at Simpson Wood (Financial Services) Limited and works alongside Neil Duthie dealing with all aspects of the advice process such as carrying out research on different types of investments, preparing financial planning reports and dealing with queries from product providers and clients alike. She joined the firm in May 2011 after relocating from Cheshire having spent 12 years in financial services she has worked for institutions such as HBOS and Bear Stearns. Sian gained her Certificate in Financial Planning in 2009 and has attained her Diploma Qualification. Outside of work Sian enjoys discovering different areas of Yorkshire with her fiancé, their young daughter and labradoodle and has recently taken up Latin & ballroom dancing.

Sukhi is one of the practice's senior auditors. Sukhi has her own portfolio of large clients for which she is responsible for producing the accounts, preparing the tax computations, and for completing the audit. Sukhi joined the firm in 2005 as a fully qualified chartered accountant from Ernst & Young. When not at work Sukhi enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, relaxing in the garden and entertaining her two young daughters.

Tim is one of our team in the Tax and Estate Planning Services department. He deals mainly with personal tax clients comprising employed, self-employed and retired individuals along with partnerships. Tim aims to provide a friendly and efficient service and tries to ensure that his clients do not fail to meet the tax return deadline in January each year! He is also the co-ordinator for our tax software supplier which enables him to provide help and assistance to other users of the system. Tim joined our tax department in August 1991 after previously working for Ernst & Young and HM Revenue & Customs. When away from the office, Tim likes to enjoy the scenery and freedom of Scotland by means of some challenging walks - weather permitting, of course!

Trevor is one of the firm's audit seniors working in the Business Services Group dealing with a portfolio of business clients. His work ranges from auditing, preparation of accounts and general business assistance and advice as required by clients from time to time. He has been with Simpson Wood since February 1982 having qualified as a chartered accountant in 1980. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family, partaking in crown green bowling, cycling and low quality golf. Trevor also likes animals and has a keen interest in preserved steam railways and other forms of public transport.
