Nichola Sykes, the manager of Simpson Wood’s Trust department has been presented with a long service award after 25 years with the firm.  She is pictured here receiving her award with partners Mike Nicholas and Giles Cliffe.

Nichola started with the firm straight from school as an office junior before getting into trust work and progressing to become manager of the department, now dealing with trust and estate management and will writing.

Nichola always reminds us that she joined the firm on April Fool’s Day 1987…… but we hope that after 25 years she doesn’t consider it to be a foolish decision. Nichola is a member of Denby Dale Travellers running club and also trains with the Stockport Harriers.  She competes regularly, and is a fundraiser for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.  The question is whether it is her marathon training which has provided Nichola with the stamina for 25 years at Simpson Wood or vice versa?

We are fortunate at Simpson Wood to have a very good team as is demonstrated by the length of service of a number of our employees including Nichola.

It is quite frightening to think that I have been here for 25 years – time flies. I can remember going home after my first day working here and announcing to my parents that “I didn’t like it and wouldn’t be going there again” but they managed to make me see sense!  My job is made easier by working with a very good team of colleagues in Taxation and Estate Planning Services and I have enjoyed my quarter of a century at Simpson Wood.
